Music, Marriage and More
I’ve been walking in sawdust since I was a boy following my father around in his garage/workshop. Today, I am a woodworker and a craftsman. My wife, Michelle, and I co-founded Leather By Dragonfly. Together, we design and make custom, premier leather goods.
When we make one-of-a-kind Custom Leather Aprons for our clients, we spend a lot of time getting to know them. We thought it would be fun to share a little more about us with our clients. I’ll take one for the team and go first:
When you’re not working, where might we be likely to find you?
That is easy. In my garage workshop making furniture or something for someone, or in Michelle's leather studio helping out.
What are you listening to?
I listen to music nearly all day. My musical tastes range the whole spectrum. I tend to hang in the 80's Rock / Heavy Metal, Guns and Roses, Queensryche, Phil Collins, Van Halen (pretty much MTV ), Frank Sinatra, Rat Pack, Glen Miller, Trance DJ Tiesto, instrumentals, 2 Cellos. In my Spotify library, you can find playlist like 80's Jams, 80's Hard Rock, All-nighter, Perfect Concentration, Brain Food, Enigma Radio, Darude.
What is your go-to karaoke song?
Not gonna happen.
What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?
Depends on the season. I enjoy sitting around our fire pit in the summer and fall having a beverage talking with friends or just sitting with Michelle ... nice and quiet.
Do you live by any piece of advice or motto?
My word. My father taught me that a man’s word is his bond. If I give you my word it's a done deal, handshake ... DONE.
Do you hit the snooze button or get up as soon as the alarm goes off?
I beat the alarm. Showered, coffee, out the door in 20 minutes.
If you had all the time in the world to master a skill, what skill would you like to master?
Play piano and the violin.
What’s one thing that’s happened in your life that has made you feel like a strong person?
Getting married to Michelle. She is strong, helpful, and understanding that in an instant our world could get turned upside down and she does not break down. She marches forward.
What’s your favorite family tradition?
Sharing Oplatki Christmas wafers — a Polish tradition on my mother’s side of the family — with friends and family on Christmas Eve.
What is the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your resume?
I played semi-pro soccer in Japan for the year 1993-94.
